Digital Photography Tips from a Pro

The advancement of digital photography is making this form of communication more accessible than ever to everyone. As many of us engage in social networking, capturing and posting the digital moments of our lives is exploding in popularity. Houston veteran photographer Sylvester Garza has lots of tricks of the trade to make your photography more effortless and effective. He will even offer insider and expert coaching tips for communicators on ways to improve photos for newsletters, presentations and public relations applications. Garza's photographic expertise ranges from illustrating the use of a service, product or environment, to executive portraiture and conceptual imagery. You will undoubtedly leave this session a better photographer than when you came in.

Sylvester Garza

For more than 20 years, Sylvester Garza has been creating images supporting Advertising/Marketing Communication for business. After earning a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Houston (1973), Garza became a working musician playing guitar and singing in road show and dance bands. Eight years later he'd finally had enough "fun" and contemplated what to do next.

In 1984, while taking refresher courses in commercial photography, he began assisting top-level commercial shooters in the Houston area, and decided to initiate his own business in 1986. He has served two tenures on the board of directors of the Houston Chapter of IABC, as well as being active for many years in a Houston, business networking group — the Dover Club

Diving into Digital Photographic Media in its early stages in 1999, Garza, has developed a deep understanding of digital photography processes and is almost evangelistic in his blog postings on the benefits of shooting in the RAW file format. Services include photography/project management for annual reports, brochures, catalogs, magazines, trade show booth graphics, and web sites.
